Welcome Desert Mountain Region
The County Schools' operated special education programs provide service to school districts on behalf of students with exceptional needs. Programs include a wide range of services to meet the needs of students and their families from birth through 21 years of age. The Desert/Mountain Operations, work in cooperation with the Desert Mountain Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) staff and participating districts to coordinate services for the students served by the department. By working in collaboration with other agencies, the department maximizes the support offered to students and their families.
Early Start Program
The Early Start program provides in-home and center-based services for eligible infants and toddlers and their families.
First CLASS Program
The First Children’s Learning and Support Services (CLASS) program is designed to provide speech therapy and other necessary services to preschool students.
Early Education Centers
The Early Education Centers provide special education services for pre-schoolers with special needs and also incorporate integration with typically developing peers.
Special Day Classes
Special Day Classes are offered to provide services for children with mild/moderate disabilities as well as children with moderate/severe disabilities, in accordance with the local SELPA plan.
Designated Instruction and Services
These are related services designed for children who are eligible for special education programs. Examples include: speech therapy adapted physical education, occupational therapy and counseling.
